this is just a test that i'm using to make a point. i love sNews I've been lurking around for months now, tried a lot of things with sNews (no real life production environment just yet), but this is my first post ever on this forum so ... Hello everybody! That said, there's only one more thing I want to add to this introduction! I know it's been said a zillion times, but I have to say it once more: sNews is an amazing piece of software! Now on to the point: Since I'm posting here, it's rather obvious that I'm in the process of taking MESU out on a spin, and in doing so I noticed two things: 1. r egardlessof the template being used with a MESU installation, it does not validate (neither the public interface nor the admin one). There are a few s missing and few other validation bugs... I'll dig deeper and post the exact issues. The admin interface has quite a few of them, really ... 2. Since this is an enhaced modular package, the inclusion of a wysiwyg editor would be a nice touch (anything but FCKEditor, which is a very nice editor, but it's a nightmare to make it validate and prevent it from breaking a lot of thin

Making an additional form

Removed sumbit button in form due to SPAM efforts made The need to have additional forms various between users. In this default MODDED pack there is no additional form visible, but it is one present to use if one would like to... In the snews.php make a search for function applform() . In this function (which is already formatted for a swedish additional form just to show where and how to add fields, and possible instructions) you now need to make some changes. The $arrFields[] lines is the added fields that is now present. Change these and add/remove if need be. Also change or comment out the second echo statement located after // Display contact form depending on if you want formular information present or not. After you're satisfied with the content of your new additional form, you simply make a new .php file containing this line: Rename it to something suitable (I call this one form.php ) and upload it. As a last step, you now want to add this to a article or as a page. You do this by simply adding this to an article/page: PATH TO FILE/form.php or whatever you named it. Inside the include tags , which there is a button for benieth the article/page form. And you will end up with the following additional form (or something similar as I gather you're about to do some changes to it ;) ).

This modded version is a variation of Keyrocks enhanced version . I have only added some MOD's to that, and sort of enhanced the enhanced version a tad. Atleast I thought I did, since I added the MOD's I find useful, and they are (including Keyrocks MOD's): 1) Added - "Enhanced Admin System and Editor Functions" MOD(keyrocks) - Makes a lot of goodie stuff, such as eg: a) - "Expandable Comments Panel" MOD (bakercad) - Make a comment link under comments expands to show comment panel. b) - "Clickable Article Titles" MOD (bakercad) - makes article title clickable only on Home or within a category. c) - "Articles grouped by category" in Admin Panels (philmoz) - expandable category panels open with articles listed by category. 2) Added - "Hidden Articles and Insert Hidden Articles" MOD (Philmoz) Wowsa, lots of changes here. search for "added code for show/hide articles" to find changes 3) Added - "Performance booster" MOD (Codetwist) new function getGetParm, and function get_id - Simply speeds up the hell out of sNews 4) Added - "Generate readable non-english SEF titles" MOD for Swedish (Codetwist) new function genSEF() - Makes normally non-english carachters such as åÅ äÄ öÖ– appear a tad more readable (FOR SWEDISH USERS) 5) Added - "top pagination (v 1.0) to articles/pages" MOD (Philmoz) new function altExtra() - Makes the pagination for chosen SEFtitle appear above the comments aswell as below 6) Added - "Adding additional form" MOD (Codetwist) - Makes it possible to add additional forms to the engine. 7) Added "Site Statistics, Admin Only" MOD (keyrocks) - This one displays how many viewers are online, how many visited today, how many visited yesterday, and the total visitors to date, in the Main Admin Panel. - Settings within the statistics.php file allow you to have statistic updates sent to your e-mail address. 8) Added - "Comment area - Styling and visuals" MOD (MIKA) - Makes the comments styled differently and with numbers. 9) Added - "Web event calendar" integration myself - Makes it easy to manage monthly events in a visible way.
